Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

What a fun day we had today!  We were so lucky to have the opportunity to go watch an MU Volleyball match today.  The kids all really seemed to enjoy themselves.  :)

Pictures from the Week

  • We post a lot of pictures on Twitter throughout the week.  This week was no different.  Make sure to check it out to see the pictures.
  • As a reminder, you can always check the blog because we have our Twitter feed on the blog also.

Dot Day

  • A huge thank you to everyone who donated supplies for our Dot Day cookies.
  • The kids really enjoyed our activities and getting to share the cookies with the firefighters.
  • These kids are definitely going to find a lot of positive ways to "make their mark" on the world.
Headphones
  • Some of the students are having trouble with their earbuds staying in their ears.  The students can have headphones or earbuds whichever work best for them.  Please check with your student to see if their headphones are working and fit properly.

Friday Folders
  • Chipotle Eat Out Form
    • September 17 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Broadway Bluffs location
    • This is a great excuse to not make dinner and support RBE.
  • PTA Membership Form
    • RBE is so lucky to have an AMAZING PTA.
    • This is the membership form if you would like to join.
  • Literacy Night
    • September 30 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at RBE
    • Representatives from Wonders (the reading curriculum we are using this year) will be at RBE to talk with parents about the program.
    • Programs will be given every 30 minutes and some classrooms will be open to look through resources.
  • Junior Achievement Magnet
    • We had our first Junior Achievement class with Ms. Dent this week.
    • The magnet shows the "town" that they learn about during Junior Achievement.

Next Week's Learning
  • Reading
    • We will continue working on our fantasy unit.
    • Be sure to ask your students what the main characteristic of a fantasy is and how they know the stories we have been reading are fantasies.
  • Writing
    • We will start revising our realistic fiction stories.
    • The students will be working on their opening to grab the reader's attention.
  • Math
    • We will start Unit 2 next week.
    • This unit covers addition strategies.  These include making 10's, doubles facts, helper facts and counting up.
  • Fundations
    • We did not get to as much Fundations as expected this week.  We will continue working on glued sounds unk, ung, ink, ing, ong, onk, am, an and all.
    • Please continue practicing trick words at home.  These came home with the homework bingo.
  • Science
    • We will continue learning about the needs of a plant.
    • During our observations yesterday, the kids (as well as teachers) were surprised by how much the plants kept in a closet grew.  They noticed that the stems were white and the leaves were much smaller and yellow.  Thanks to one of our Twitter followers (and parents), we learned that the stems are longer because the plant is trying to find light.
